As we saw yesterday the new Seiko Astron GPS Solar is center stage in the Seiko wing of our new Pavilion, but Astron is by no means the whole story and, in the windows that surround Astron, are displayed all of the Elite collections that are so well appreciated by Seiko's customers all over the world.
There are separate windows for Ananta, Premier, Sportura, and Velatura. Let's take a look at each.
Ananta
The new Ananta Limited Edition Mechanical Chronograph. The new chronograph has a hand-painted lacquer dial in a deep blue, a color never previously achieved with lacquer. The crescent moon on the dial, inspired from Masamune Date, a Japanese remarkable daimyo of the 17th century, is also painted in lacquer and shines brightly on the dial.
Premier
These new-look Seiko Premier watches feature Seiko's unique Kinetic technology. The 2013 Premier collection is subtly re-designed with a more sleek case and a more three-dimensional dial.
The new, softer, Premier design works particularly well in the women's collection and is being widely praised.
Sportura
The Sportura's men's collection is exhibited next to a screen showing a film that celebrates Seiko's partnership with FC Barcelona. The new Sportura Kinetic GMT watch is being talked about very positively, as is the TV commercial that features it.
Seiko's women's collection goes from strength to strength. The Sportura window features Darya Klishina, our partner who won the gold medal in the long jump at the 2013 European Indoor Championships in Goteborg, Sweden in March. The medal is displayed alongside the watches, and Darya's warm and engaging character is revealed in the film that runs continuously next to the display.
Velatura
The new Velatura collection is making waves this week! First launched in 2007, the collection has a new look and the watches are exhibited with two different visuals, one featuring the 49er class which Seiko sponsors, and the other showing the women's collection and a new image of Darya Klishina wearing the Velatura's new communication model.
The star of the men's collection is the Kinetic Direct Drive with moon phase. Is there a more beautiful sailing watch at Baselworld, 2013? With great respect to the many fine marine watches at Baselworld, we think not.
